The claimEvidence A · guideline-tier
Probiotics are universally good — any strain helps the gut
The evidence
After antibiotics, a generic probiotic actually delayed the gut microbes' recovery by 3-6 months (Suez 2018, Cell). What matters is matching the strain, the condition and the dose.
The mechanism, in brief
Most bottles on the shelf that say contains probiotics do not actually earn the name.
