What instant noodles are · a real food wrapped in rumors

There is no wax in an instant-noodle cup, and the block does not depend on preservatives. Its real problems lie elsewhere: one pack's sodium comes close to a day's limit, the fried block has soaked up a fair amount of oil, and there is almost no protein or vegetable in it. Instant noodles are precooked, then dried: the noodles are steamed first, then fried or dried with hot air, and you rehydrate them in hot water for a few minutes. It is a processed food whose ingredients can be checked, not something made of plastic.

It is cheap, fast, and everywhere, a standby meal for students, people working late, and long trips, which is why three claims keep circling it: the cup is coated in wax, the preservatives are over the limit, and eating it causes cancer. Each of the three is either wrong or overstated; but after taking them apart, honesty requires the other half: too much sodium, the fat in the fried block, and a thin nutrient profile are real.

One fried block (about 85-90 g) has roughly 375-395 kcal, mostly from the flour's carbohydrate and the frying oil; the oil in the sauce packet adds more.
