Vitamin D is a helper for eczema, not a switch: Nielsen 2024's pooled analysis saw a small drop in severity scores, while an earlier Cochrane review judged the evidence insufficient for established eczema. Topping up a deficiency makes sense, but expecting vitamin D alone to control the chain of skin-barrier failure and allergic (Th2) inflammation asks more than the evidence can carry.

Eczema is the strongest early-life risk factor for food allergy. In the dual-allergen exposure hypothesis, broken skin lets food proteins in and triggers sensitization, while eating them on time helps the immune system learn tolerance. So babies with eczema especially should not have peanut put off; they should start it early with a doctor's guidance, after a doctor's assessment if the eczema is severe.
